Table Mountain

Explore Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain

Whether it is covered in a blanket of moody clouds or showing off against a crisp cloudless blue sky, Table Mountain is always spectacular.

Cape Town locals are fond of the mountain that looms over their city… and with good reason! Table Mountain, which is home to the richest, yet smallest floral kingdom on earth, was voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2011.

Flanked by Devil’s Peak and Lion’s Head, Table Mountain makes up the northern end of the Cape Fold Mountain range. It’s hard to imagine, but the mountain’s distinctive flat top – a three-kilometre level plateau – was once the bottom of a valley! The mountain was given its name — Taboa do Cabo (Table of the Cape) — by Antonio de Saldahna after he climbed up Platteklip Gorge in 1503.

Legend has it that the tablecloth of clouds that pours over the mountain when the southeaster blows is the result of a smoking contest between the devil and a retired sea captain called Jan van Hunks.

Cape of Good Hope

Cape of Good Hope

Cape of Good Hope, rocky promontory at the southern end of Cape Peninsula, Western Cape province, South Africa.

Home to ghost ships and troops of baboons as well as being one of the world’s great centres of terrestrial biodiversity, The Cape of Good Hope is a remarkable place. Known for its stormy, treacherous waters, the area is also incredibly beautiful and part of a national park.

African Penguin

African Penguin

The African penguin, also known as Cape penguin or South African penguin, is a species of penguin confined to southern African waters. Like all extant penguins, it is flightless, with a streamlined body and wings stiffened and flattened into flippers for a marine habitat. Adults weigh an average of 2.2–3.5 kg (4.9–7.7 lb) and are 60–70 cm (24–28 in) tall. The species has distinctive pink patches of skin above the eyes and a black facial mask. The body’s upper parts are black and sharply delineated from the white underparts, which are spotted and marked with a black band.

The African penguin is a pursuit diver and feeds primarily on fish and squid. Once extremely numerous, the African penguin is declining rapidly due to a combination of several threats and is classified as endangered. It is a charismatic species and is popular with tourists. Other vernacular names of the species include black-footed penguin and jackass penguin, due to the species’ loud, donkey-like noise, although several related species of South Jackass penguins produce the same sound. They can be found along the coast of South Africa and Namibia.

Punta Cana

Punta Cana – Dominican Republic

Punta Cana is found to the east of the Dominican Republic, in the province of La Altagracia. This classic Caribbean location stands out thanks to its lively atmosphere and its wide variety of leisure and entertainment.

The hotels in Punta Cana (Playa Bávaro) are known for their lively atmosphere and, most of all, their exquisite white sandy beaches where you’ll enjoy long hours under the warm sun. At Costa del Coco, the “Garden of Eden” we’ve all dreamed about becomes a reality: shaped by long, white beaches, beach bars, clubs, endless soirees and tropical jungles that line the Caribbean shore with thriving lush greenery and sunlight.

While lying on the Playa Bavaro, Blanca, Playa Macao or Playa Juanillo beach, you’ll experience the true picture-postcard Caribbean, framed by turquoise water and languid coconut trees that sway over the sea. A place without schedules, where night blends into day and any place is perfect for toasting to pure happiness. With friends, with the kids or your partner… go on, enjoy it!

Kahului Hawaii

Kahului Hawaii

Kahului, city, Maui county, on the northern coast of Maui island, Hawaii, U.S. Situated on Kahului Bay, it lies 2 miles (3 km) east of Wailuku Beginning in the late 19th century, the area became a centre for sugar and pineapple production. Until the 1950s Kahului had a small, transitory population. The Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company then sponsored a large planning project, and modern business and residential sectors were developed. Kahului is Maui’s principal airport and its only deepwater port. With nearby Wailuku it is the commercial-transportation centre and the outlet for the products of the island’s fertile central plain. Twin Falls

Twin Falls

Twin Falls is the first easily accessible string of waterfalls and pools on the Road to Hana. It also has one of the better snack stands on the journey. Twin falls is typically underrated by guidebooks, and is a worthy stop.

We see a bright future. The valley, which is popularly known as Twin Falls has another name also. The valley is called Ho’olawa, which translates to “to provide, to share in abundance, to equip or make available so everyone has enough.” The Ko’olau rainforest, which feeds the two Ho’olawa streams running through our farm, is filled with fresh water year-round. On average there are 80-100 inches of rain per year in this rainforest. This freshwater provides ideal growing conditions for an abundance of plant life. Contained within this valley is all that is necessary for sustainability; fertile soil, fresh water, and sunlight.
